Message from Relief Worker

Here is a short update from the relief worker in Pakistan in response to my query. The $1500 collected with your help has already been sent.

The biggest challenge at this stage is looking after the thousands of displaced families who have been left homeless after the severe floods. The death toll is more than 1600, but according to the UN overall 14 million people have been affected.

I hope you will keep this cause in your thoughts and continue to support the people in Pakistan. Please continue to spread this message and send your donations.

As already said we are at the fund collecting stage. so far I have received 120,000 Rs and will add another 100,000 from my own pocket. this amount will enable us to provide 11 relief packages as posted on my profile i.e. tent, food items, utensils, gas cylinder and other supplies (please see the brochure I have designed) . I will be going to Nowshera day after tomorrow to see and cross check the 40 families identified by our partner there and then will deliver the supplies for 11 families in the next two days.


This is what we have collected so far and hope our friends will send in more donations so we may reach other families as well."

I hope that with your support and co-operation, we shall be able to multiply the relief packages for the affected families.

Some friends have shown interest in sending relief goods from Australia. This can only be possible if we get donations for items like plastic mats, tents, basic medicines, utensils, clothes etc. More so, the cost of transportation does not make it feasible unless someone can arrange to get concession/donation from an international courier company.

The relief workers have also requested for donation of Aqua tabs. These are water purifying tablets. There is a big shortage of clean drinking water, hence these tablets are vital for preventing breakout of water borne disesaes like cholera. a few cases have already been reported in the media.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts on the above information. Your valuable advice will help to keep the cause alive.
