Appeal to help flood affectees in Pakistan

The recent floods in Pakistan have caused mass destruction. So far, over 1,600 people have been killed, several villages uprooted and crops destroyed. The United Nations says up to 5 million people have now been affected by massive floods in Pakistan. Emergency crews are trying to evacuate up to 500,000 people from low-lying villages in the southern provinces of Sindh and Punjab. Bad weather has hampered rescue efforts in the north-west of Pakistan.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA).
" We have 27,337 people stranded at various places and rescuers are trying to evacuate them," UNOCHA official Nicki Bennett said.
Associated Press reports: More rain soaked flood-ravaged Pakistan on Saturday and even heavier downpours were forecast for coming days. Pakistani officials estimate as many as 13 million people throughout the South Asian nation have been affected by the rising waters. About 1,500 people have died, most of them in the northwest, the hardest-hit region. Mass evacuations are under way in the southern province of Sindh after the Indus River rose there.
The intense flooding that began about two weeks ago has washed away roads, bridges and many communications lines, hampering rescue efforts. Incessant monsoon rains have grounded many helicopters trying to rescue people and ferry aid, including six choppers manned by U.S. troops on loan from Afghanistan.

I would like to appeal to everyone to generously donate funds for the flood affectees. I am personally liaising with relief workers working in the affected areas and collecting funds. Please join me in this worthy cause by spreading the message to your own network of family and friends. It does not matter whether you contribute $5 or $50, every little amount counts.

Since, this is a personal initiative, I will not be able to give any receipts. This is the reason I am approaching only people I know personally or friends of friends. I hope that you will help me in this cause. Please get in touch with me if you wish to make any donations.
